With all of the hard these days, it’s easy to feel weary, like deep down in your soul weary. Every which way we look, there is unrest, discord, and division. Lies abound. It feels like dark is thisclose to overtaking light, and with all of the commotion, it’s easy to lose hope.
Y’ALL! THE LIGHT IS NOT GONE. It’s not dimmed, even. It might feel harder to see, as we are bombarded by so much darkness, but there is still so much light to be found. If I’ve learned anything on my journey towards a more positive perspective, it’s that anything worth doing usually requires effort, so now is the time to dig deep and not allow yourself to be swayed by the crazy shenanigans of this world.
For as long as I can remember, sleep has not felt restful. In my 20’s and 30’s, I used to wake, knowing for FACT the ceiling fan was falling, crabs or various bugs were descending from the walls, snakes were slithering around my bed …. you jealous? I used to have so much anxiety, it even attacked me in my sleep! Fast forward to today, thankfully, I’ve traded those awful real feeling nightmares for insomnia. *Face palm* Here’s the fun part, though, I might not sleep well, but I’ve learned to actively pursue rest, considering sleep can be so elusive for me. Usually, rest is closing my eyes for 30 minutes after my husband goes to work, and the tv is off, while the kids complete their schoolwork (or wrestle each other to the death, I mean, either way); but sometimes it’s a mid afternoon shower; or, as weird as it sounds, rest, for me, can be a longer walk with the dog soaking up sunshine, fresh air and quiet. Cultivating moments of rest is a must, and these days, we ALL need rest. We need rest from tv, news sources, social media, anything that looks like dark trying to overtake light.
Do you find rest in the woods, under a tree while gazing at the clouds and sunshine? Or a long drive with music top volume? Reading, and tuning out the real world? Stargazing and enjoying the moon? Whatever REST looks like to you, cling to it, and nurture it. Actively seek ways to soothe your brain, heart and soul. Pray. Meditate. Press in to the things and moments that help you feel more at ease, and find ways to connect with others that make you feel like sunshine. We ALL need more sunshine!
Rest, even through the unrest. Open your eyes to the simple pleasures that restore, and refresh, the weariness of these harder days. YOU ARE WORTH THE REST!
With Sunbeams and Love,
Racheal Xx
